The South Node in the first house shows strong past or familiar experience of independence, inner separateness, asceticism, survival and living “on one's own wave.” Sources on Ketu in the first house mention self-restraint, hard work for a goal, interest in spiritual and occult themes, storytelling, imagination and sometimes intuition close to clairvoyance.
This is not a bad placement by itself. It gives an inborn sense of separateness: “I can do it myself”, “I will endure”, “I do not have to be like everyone else.” The person may easily go inward, keep distance, hide weakness and avoid asking for help. They may seem quiet, but inside have a rich spiritual life, strong fantasy, observation and the ability to understand complex states.
