The square of Pluto and Chiron shows an inner conflict between pain and the need to control life. The person may feel that the world is unsafe, that at any moment someone will interfere, destroy plans, take away a resource, humiliate them, or force them to relive an old wound. Therefore they try to keep a hand on the pulse: check, anticipate, defend themselves, not reveal weak places. But the stronger the control, the greater the tension.
