The Mars-Neptune square creates tension between the desire to act and the fog around motives, goals, and methods of action. Mars demands directness: I want, I take, I defend, I resist, I do. Neptune brings dream, fear, temptation, pity, idealization, secrecy, and sometimes self-deception. As a result, the person may want something very strongly but not fully understand why it is needed, whom they serve, where the real goal is, and where there is only a beautiful fantasy.
