Here there is often a distortion around value: a person may be ashamed of their desires and then become insatiable; devalue themselves and then prove their price through property, appearance, status purchases or control over resources.
In childhood there may have been situations where money, food, clothes, gifts or bodily themes were connected with shame, comparison, prohibition, envy or humiliation. Later the person may react painfully to poverty, dependence, another person's luxury, refusal or financial instability. It is hard to say calmly: "I need this", "I want this", "this is mine", "I am worth more".
